Amusement with snow on Spring Break

Life has really been wearing me out lately and thus not so great, but I don't really care to write about that at the moment. All is not terrible, though. I've had some fun experiences that I just haven't taken the time to sit down and write about. And there's pictures! Ooh.
MUSE is one of my favorite bands and I was able to see them in concert for the second time in March. The first time was Spring 2005 and that show floored me – probably tied for one of the best live shows I have seen. I had high expectations for this show since they've only gotten bigger (popularity-wise, not fatty-wise) and I had read a couple things about some “video towers” they would be playing on. They definitely did not disappoint.
On the stage were three towers probably 100 feet tall, with coverings that make them look like skyscrapers. As the show started, there was a video projection on all sides of the towers – people climbing stairs to the top. After a couple minutes of this, the climbers stopped and one-by-one started falling. Finally, the coverings fall off the towers and the band starts with “Uprising”. Each tower was a hydraulic platform on the bottom (that the band played on) and the top of the towers were suspended above them. Video played on all sides of the towers. Check out the video I took of it, along with some photos:
MUSE is awesome live, I definitely recommend seeing them. (I have many more photos on Flickr)
I enjoy skiing, but had not been in about 8 years. Dad and I were discussing it late last year and decided to go. Initially I was going to suggest a place in Indiana/Ohio, but he suggested we go for the “real deal”, so we decided to go to a real mountain and go skiing in Winter Park, Colorado. We did not intend it to work out this way, but the trip landed during Spring Break. We made a four-day weekend out of it, two days of skiing. For being out of shape, two days was just enough. I fell 4 or 5 times, most on the first day and nothing too bad. Once I actually took him down with me; he was just standing there and I didn't slow down enough/lost my balance or something. That gave some entertainment to the people on the ski lift overhead. That was the first day; I was semi-pro by the second day. :) We stuck to the green hills (beginner) and had a blast; some of the runs took 30-40 minutes to the bottom. We were as high as 11,700 feet. I intend to ski more regularly, even if just around Indiana.
I didn't get any pictures on the slopes (I wasn't going to bring my phone and destroy it in a fall), but did get some on the drive into the mountains.
Let's start the year off right

An addendum to my quite popular How to make a sharp dressed man post:
10a) Wear a sweet vest.

This was my birthday present from my mom – “Because you're gRegorlove”, she said. I am looking forward to some nice occasion(s) to wear this in 2010; and yes, to start blogging again.

They're both pretty great in their own ways. I'll leave it to you to decide which is better.
Orange you having fun?

A few pictures from my visit to la-la land, courtesy of Elizabeth. These were taken in Orange, CA (get the title? hah :). Matt was walking around us and randomly taking pictures like a paparazzi, and then we had this “photo shoot”. In the middle of the mall. There will be more once Matt uploads his photos.

I guess only one of us was really ready for this, but it's still fun. That's Matt and Elizabeth. Possible album cover?

Matt animates things and drors things. He was taking pictures from different angles, ergo sitting on the ground. We had just bought candy and it was about this time that I think he said “I squished my jelly bellies” or “I sat on my jelly bellies”, which was quite humorous.

This is pretty awesome, for reasons I don't fully know. I think I said “Stop taking pictures of my bald spot” and he said “which one?”

Up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Matt with a camera!

When I saw this, my caption comment was “What is that strange Matt person doing?” because, well, she had said things along those lines that day. But Elizabeth assures me that she was giving me this look. Huh, well that's a first.

Photo Weekend
Tuesday 11.07.2006 12:02AM

The bonfire Saturday night. I think this looks really good full-size.

Myssi, Laura, and me. Cool kids? Well... 2 out of 3.

Doug was excited to be burning stuff. Who wouldn't be?
Sunday I went to Brown County with Myssi, Laura, Jon, Eric, and David [reverse alphabetical order this time, kids. Chill out.] We ate lunch in town and proceeded to the state park, where we did the first thing you should always do after eating: ran around and played ultimate frisbee. It was fun, but after sitting down and catching my breath, I started to feel nauseous.

Laura decided to add insult to... nausea, by crushing my head. It hurt. The nausea passed and I was ok, thankfully. The headache remained, though.

The BeaTwins hijacked my camera (a few times) and had a self-picture accident. They were cut in half, as you can see.

We were able to sew them back together, though. They're still photogenic; you can hardly notice the scars.

Eric doesn't like his photograph being taken, so we take what we can get. He loves to take photographs, though.

Some of the group walking around the lake. Eric took the lead and pointed out these things called “trees” to us. He's a smart guy.

These rocks almost crushed us on the trail, until the BeaTwins jumped in there and saved us with their incredible strength.

This is David but... he's blurry and doesn't like his picture being taken, so I think that makes him Bigfoot, doesn't it?

Laura and Eric (wow, he posed willingly)

David demonstrates how not to whittle a hot dog stick.

Myssi demonstrates how to whittle a hot dog stick. She does it professionally.

Laura: *skurred* Me: “What's your deal, Laura?”

Jon and me on self-timer, waiting for the self-timer on the other camera for the group shot.
