How to make a sharp dressed man
Wednesday 12.05.2007 12:12AM
In 13 steps (give or take):
For the optimal experience, open and listen to Sharp Dressed Man while reading.
1) Take one smelly guy.

2) Dunk guy in water repeatedly until clean. Dry.

Some may resist this procedure.
3) Apply clean, ironed slacks.

4) Apply clean white t-shirt.

5) Apply clean, ironed long-sleeve button-up shirt.

6) Button up the shirt.

7) Now button it up correctly, lining up all the buttons with the right holes. Try working top down.

8) Put on tie.

9) Nice try. Now tie it.

10) Around your neck.

If you're in mild discomfort, but still able to barely breathe, you're doing it right. This is what ties were created for.
11) Put on belt.

While holding your hands at your side in a superhero pose.
12) Apply socks and shoes. Note: not white socks and tennis shoes.

Use black socks, with diamond patterns. Ladies love diamonds.
13) Comb hair, apply suit jacket, and look good.

Voilą, you have a sharp dressed man.
and every girl crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man.
There's 8 “bonus” pictures on my Flickr starting here, along with some other notes about the set.
Weekly Goals 2
Monday 11.12.2007 12:49AM
Last week was not a great start, but I did get a couple things done (mostly over the weekend). I exercised 1 time. I did not get the blog post done, but I did get the photos off my camera and cropped, so now I just need to write the post. This is a short 3-day week, I'm going to Chicago for a Jimmy Eat World concert on Thursday, then flying to Los Angeles for a 4-day weekend on Friday, so I'm not adding much this week.
The number indicates how many weeks it has been on the list.
- Clean up my bedroom
- File all varieties of past bills and paperwork
- Call Azura to get extra parts so I can finish putting my new bed together (1)
- Sort through clothes, take stuff I never wear to Goodwill (1)
- Exercise at least 2 days
- Make appointment with dentist (1)
- Make appointment with neurologist (1)

Weekly Goals 1

There was a period last year when I was keeping track of weekly goals and how well I was doing in my written journal. It worked quite well, at least when I wrote in my journal regularly. One of the first goals was to write in it every day for 30 days, so that made it easy. After that time though, my writing tapered off.
I was reminded of this idea when listening to a podcast and the hosts were talking about their weekly goals. It struck me that most goals are just about getting things done and aren't too personal, so why not blog them instead of journaling? I'm certainly more likely to keep up with it this way, and maybe it'd be interesting/inspiring to some of you.
Ok, probably not, but I'm still blogging them. :-]

How are you living?

I initially saw this video last month and for some reason keep forgetting to write about it, even though it's amazing.
Randy Pausch is a 46-year-old professor who has terminal pancreatic cancer. He was told back in August to expect three to six months of good health. He's married and has three preschool-age children. Despite this sad situation, he is in great shape physically and gave a remarkable lecture titled “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams.” You would not know by this man's demeanor that he is dying. It's about an hour and a half long, but I recommend taking the time to watch it, you'll be inspired.
