Let's Create Something
I consider myself to be a fairly creative person. I do not know if many people consider programming to be creative, but that is probably because the majority of the work is unseen below the surface, like an iceberg1. Even if a lot of programming is similar, I consider it a creative process to come up with the right solution and put it together elegantly. Also, like Kroc Camen says, “Code is art.”
I probably do not do it often enough, but I like to stretch my creativity in other areas, too. Last year I learned about 30 Days of Creativity2 after it had passed. They later had a one-day version called 30 Minutes of Creativity that I participated in. I created this based on one of my favorite Jimmy Eat World songs, “23.”
June approacheth — and with it the 2012 30 Days of Creativity. The idea is simple: create something (anything) every day for 30 days. I'm going for it! I may not post everything here, but I will try to make weekly roundup posts, at least. Images will go up on my Flickr.

• Ze Frank recently started making videos again. If you are not already watching, please do yourself a favor and check out A Show. He is funny, inspiring, and all-around awesome.
Let me think about the people who I care about the most and how when they fail or disappoint me, I still love them, I still give them chances, and I still see the best in them. Let me extend that generosity to myself.

• Janice Whaley records layers and layers of her voice to create the instrumentation in her music, including drum beats, strings, synths, and choirs. I fell in love with her album Patchwork Life. Give it a listen.
• And, of course, I should probably list the 30 Days of Creativty inspiration calendar.
1 And, like icebergs, the programming makes things crash. Hiyooo! ↩
2 I should give props to Rolf Nelson for learning about this. I came across the work he did for the 2011 30 Days of Creativity. He has some really great work. ↩
