Autumn is here
I'm glad that autumn is here. The weather has not really felt like it other than a few days - currently we're in a warm streak of 80 degree weather - but I know it will come soon enough. I don't think I really have a favorite season, I like aspects of all of them. The changing of seasons in particular is fabulous though, and I've been looking forward to this change for a little while now. I couldn't really tell you why.
A week and a half ago - just a couple days into autumn - my friend Laura had a going away party. That was a rather nice autumn day and we cooked hot dogs and S'mores on the fire, so that was the first cookout of the season. Then there was a fun, long, unscored game of volleyball where we basically played till we were too tired to play anymore. Seriously, it even got dark, so we turned on some floodlights to keep playing. Silly, but fun.
The annual bonfire I have out at my mom's house is planned for November 3rd. This is the 4th year I've had it and it's always a blast. Fire, S'mores, being way out in the country under the stars, and fire. There's quite a list of people invited, so I'm guessing arond 20 might show up. If I somehow overlooked you in the invite list, and/or you're going to be in the area and want to come, let me know and I'll get you the details.
November 16th to 19th I'm going to be in Los Angeles visiting Matt, Karla, and Elizabeth. I haven't seen Karla and Elizabeth since my 2004 trip out there, and Matt I haven't seen in almost a year. I'm looking forward to some relaxing fun out there in my favorite state with them.
I actually bought an iProduct, but don't worry, it's not Apple. :) I got an iLap laptop stand and so far I'm liking it. It's made of aluminum so it conducts the heat away well and it's comfortable with its swivel base and padding. The front padding is removable so it can work well on a desk too. It's simple and it works well. Macphiles will like the silver anodized finish. They make some other cool products too, check them out.
I'm listening to Jenn's Autumn Mix which is pretty nice; relaxing. It has The Cinematic Orchestra, Beirut, Spoon, Mew, Thom Yorke, Damien Jurado, and several others on it (17 tracks). You can download it and hear for yourself. I have not made a mix CD in a while, so I'm starting to work on one.
And that wraps up the semi-interesting thoughts in my head at the moment. Time to go nap.
