Return of the King

“Alas! there are some wounds that cannot be wholly cured,” said Gandalf.

“I fear it may be so with mine,” said Frodo. “There is no real going back. Though I may come to the Shire, it will not seem the same; for I shall not be the same. I am wounded with knife, sting, and tooth, and a long burden. Where shall I find rest?”

Gandalf did not answer.

I finally finished reading Return of the King. Twas fabulous, as expected. The analogies in it are so rich. Everyone should read the Lord of the Rings books.

amen, brother...
amen.
y'know, that quote just kind of shone a little light on me...the more i travel, the less i am content to remain where i am. i don't think that's really good.

I assume that the wound from the blade was meant to represent the repurcussions of sin. Frodo did get it while wearing the ring, which he was not supposed to do. But, discontent with where you are fits as well. He had seen so many things outside the Shire that he couldn't see it the same way any more.

Wounds that will never really heal
These wounds are mine and all I feel
It breaks my heart to feel this way
So lost and tossed, alone at sea
All that?s left to do is cry and pray
For all that?s left is God and me
