Good week (and apples)
After a fun Sunday which included going to Brown County and cooking hot dogs and S'mores over the fire (Jon's account of this day is excellent, so I won't repeat it)... I made the comment that this is going to be a really good week - any week that begins and ends with fire has to be good. Since I'm having a bonfire on Saturday, this is one such week.
For one thing, I sent out my resume for a pretty good PHP programming job in Indy yesterday. The guy got back in touch with me within hours and we emailed back and forth all day, basically an email interview. Things were sounding pretty good. He asked me about salary and I gave him a reasonable number, which he said was “within an acceptable range if it's a good fit”. Sounding even better, now. As of this morning, most likely they're going to contract a freelance project with me to assess my skills and real-world speed. We are probably going to have a face-to-face interview about that next week.
I am pretty excited, honestly. This job could be great - challenging, stable, includes benefits, and a salary that would help me get out of debt more quickly (one of my top goals in life right now).
I also have some really great people in my life. Yeah, that's an every week thing, but I just felt like mentioning them in this upbeat post. Plus by the end of the week I will have been with them at least 3 times, so that adds to the goodweekicus factor. Jon, Laura, and Myssi, you guys rock. [Since I know how competitive some in this list are, keep in mind it's just listed alphabetically. Oy!]
Yes, I have a lot of other amazing people in my life who bless me, no offense intended if you are not listed.
Free sneak preview passes to see Flushed Away tomorrow. It looks pretty funny.
Did I mention the bonfire on Saturday? Aww yeah. Fire.
I will leave you now with a funny variant of “all the things you need to know about men and women” (thanks Mike)
Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy.
The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.
Now Men... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the shit out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.

and house church tonight, I can't forget that.
It's a different peer group than I'm usually with (young married couples with kids), but that's not a bad thing... I like the variety.
